Did not irritate my skin, but it also didn't stick to my skin for even one day. Seems like the glue on it is not very powerful.
I am a frequent user and believer in kinesiology tape, and in the standard KT brand tape. However, upon buying and using the Pre Extreme version due to its advertised better adhesion and longer wear time this is my review on Pro Extreme. Simply stated, it is not as good as the regular. Ends started to peel within hours, edges started to fray within hours. It still did the job of regular kinesio tape but in now way whatsoever was it better or worth the money. I found the house brand from Walgreens to be far better than the KT Pro. Save your money and get that.
The flex and support of the tape feels very good but it’s DEFINITELY not as strong sticking to your skin as they advertise. The product description says it’s good for a few days and that you can even swim with it on… yea right… The tape starts to weaken and come loose almost as soon as I begin to sweat, which kinda defeats the purpose of “athletic tape”. I tried several trouble shooting steps to fix this but it was the same story every time.
Usually when I buy this product it works perfectly. This time it lasted one day. I didn’t get it wet. My clothes were not rubbing up against it. And it still started peeling and rolling off. I hope it was just a bad batch.
Works alright but doesn’t stay on 7 days it says it will. I’ve had better luck with the cheaper alternative sticking
Pretty sticky and supportive so far, but the tape starts fraying immediately once you put it on. My regular KT tape doesn’t do that so I’m not sure what’s up with this.
The adhesiveness isn't as great as I was hoping for. Got it for long distance running, but after a couple miles and I start sweating, it starts to lose that stickiness and fall off. So kind of defeats the purpose of it being "extreme" and showing a swimmer wearing one. The swimmer probably got 100 meters in before the tape lost its adhesiveness and purpose. It's still not the worst product out there, might work better for the upper half of the body, but was kind of disappointed because I wanted to have it for leg/calf/foot strains.
I've purchased several rolls of this tape & my experience has always been great. However, this roll must have been bad. Normally I get 5 to 6 days per application, however, I was barely making it to 2 days before the tape started to peel. This is most disturbing. Generally, I love this product, but this time, not do much. Very disappointed, although I did just order another roll, hoping it will be better.
Even after prior alcohol cleansing of area and waiting prior to exercising, tape still lifts at edges. Also shreds at edges too. I’ll update review on pain relief aspects after professional physical therapist shows me how to place it properly for my individual pain areas. Looks good on though ;)
Beware. The disclosure on box of precut 10" strips is in mice print. I need longer custom -cut strips so even though the KY Pro Extreme is water resistant with stronger adhesive, it does not work for me.
It requires 2 people if you need to set it up proper for hips, back, shoulders. basically any ace hard to reach.
The struggle was real.
The theory about this is fairly nice and you can check KT tape website to get some detailed information on how to use this tape.
One big flaw for me as far as I am concerned it that you need someone to apply it for you if it is anywhere on the shoulders, back or even arms.
The other issue I have with it is that you have to be pretty much shaved on your body to make the best use of it.
This in my view eliminates me as I have no intention to have my body shaved just to use a therapeutic tape.
In conclusion, if you are not:
- A female (usually not very hairy)
- A high level sport athlete who shaves regularily.
- Living alone
Then you can make a use of it.
The rest of us can look elsewhere...
Having bought this excellent product from a well know high street chemist's last year I decided to continue using it as it's the best I've used as a Sports physio. It's more expensive than other brands but my clients were happy with the long lasting, anti curl properties.
I have been using it myself to tape my calf and knee. Used correctly it's brilliant.
Rather than visit the high Street I bought this pack from Amazon, but unfortunately on both of my runs the round edges curled, therefore reducing any effect I was trying to achieve. Also, I could get exactly the same performance from a brand at a quarter of the price.
I've ordered a replacement in the hope that the batch I've been using is faulty and the quality I'd hoped for will be present in my next pack.
Tape works great (Especially for knees) I am having issues with it staying on during water aerobics. Normally it will stay on for two weeks without issues.
After researching the different tapes we chose this one for our 14 year old son who is a competitive swimmer with Osgood Shlatters. He says it does hold and support his knees when swimming but it literally comes off straight after being in the pool. It doesn't last.
I'm not going to review whether the tape helps with injuries, only that the Extreme version adheres no better than the standard. I've been using KT tape to deal with a slight post tibial tendonitis when running. I live in the mid-Atlantic region of the US where the summers are very humid. The standard KT tape did not stay adhered for very long once I started sweating, so I upgrade to the Extreme. The packaging includes a guy swimming along with the claim that it will stay on for days and a warning that it is extremely sticky. I youtubed directions on how to apply properly and rubbed it to heat activate the adhesion, but still whenever I finish a run it's bunched up in my sock. Disappointed since it cost so much more yet doesn't work any better than the standard.
The Pro Extreme does not lift off after a day or two of wearing. You have to pull it off! That is what I wanted. Is there something you can put on the Pro Extreme to help remove it when you want to remove it?
After I sprained my knee, my physical therapist recommended taping it for support. I tried several different brands of athletic tape and KT Pro Extreme is the best of the bunch. I swim on a master's swim team, so I'm in the pool a lot. Other brands of tape lift up and peel off during a swimming practice, but not KT Pro Extreme. It stays in place for days -- in and out of the water! The durability and quality of this tape make it worth the extra cost.
This tape does everything it’s supposed to do but the adhesive is so strong that when it’s removed it leaves strong glue on the skin. That was my only problem with it.
I have a partial tear in my Rotator Cuff on my shoulder. I talked to my Doctor and he told me try to go easy on my weightlifting especially my Bench Press. I compete in Bench Press Powerlifting so I still try to go heavy. I tried everything from gels, liquids and wraps but to no avail because it still hurts. then I was told by a nurse friend that to try the KT Tape. So I tried your tape and so far so good. I hope it continues to help and it seems to be working the best for me. Thank you
I was using the original KT Tape but would have to re-tape every day as the adhesive was weak. But with the pro extreme, I tape my elbow on Monday and I’m good till Friday! Even if I have to peel it off early it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. Best part is the relief this tape brings me, I don’t know how to explain it but just by using this tape I gain my mobility back! Worth every penny!!
I have been using this on my lower back for at least a year or more with good results. The tape stays on for a week and has helped very much. However - for the last two uses(new container) I have broken out in a rash under the tape. The first time - I let the rash clear up and used the tape again - and the second time the rash was worse. VERY itchy. I removed the tape and now am trying to clear the rash again. This is such a great product and has really helped me - I wonder it there is something new in tape or adhesive - or if I am just not going to be able to continue using the product? Any suggestions?
This stuff is good. It didn’t stay on as long as Rock Tape H20 version but it breathes better and isn’t as itchy. I think I got 4ish days. I recommend.
I really wish the adhesive was much better than it is. The ends of the tape lift, and do not stay put, especially after you put clothing on. It ends up sticking to the inside of clothing, taking the tape up. This unfortunately causes it to not last as many days as it's said to hold up for. I am able to get maybe two days of use, as it starts to unravel, and come off, becausethe ends won't stay, and continue to lift/peel back. It will not re-adhere after either. You're not able to reposition the tape at all, without ending up having to use am entirely new piece of tape, which was wasteful, when I was first getting the hang of placement. It does feel like it's helping my knees quite a bit, adding support, and helping them not feel so sore, which is huge for me. I still need to try it on my shoulder, just not sure how I'll be able to put the tape on myself. You also need to be careful, when peeling the backing off, as to avoid the tape from sticking to itself. It's a little bit of trail and error.
