WHY THE COACH'S BRIEF?

We've spent much of our professional lives around athletes, coaches, training rooms, recovery rooms, products, technology and people trying to get more out of their bodies.

Some of what we've learned came from working with professional and Olympic athletes.

Some came from working with young athletes.

Some came from building products and companies.

And quite a bit came from realizing that some of what we've accepted as conventional wisdom wasn't particularly useful.

The Coach's Brief is where we explore those things.

Not every Brief will be about training.

We may talk about sleep. Fascia. Hydration. Light. Nutrition. Nervous-system regulation. Recovery technology. Aging. Travel. Competition. Products. Research. Or something we've seen happen with an athlete that made us reconsider what we thought we knew.

And increasingly, we'll talk about something we call Precovery™—what we can do before a physical withdrawal instead of waiting until afterward to think about recovery.

Because performance doesn't happen in isolation.

Neither does recovery.

And neither does adaptation.

PRECOVERY. PERFORMANCE. RECOVERY. ADAPTATION.

Those four ideas increasingly shape the way we think about human performance.

Precovery™
What are we doing before the demand arrives?

Performance
What are we asking the body to produce?

Recovery
What are we putting back after the withdrawal?

Adaptation
What did the body actually build from the experience?

That's much of what we're exploring at PlayMakar.

And it's what we'll continue exploring in The Coach's Brief.
